These two celestial beacons aren’t stars at all. This is a magnificent meeting of Venus (the dazzlingly bright "Evening Star" sitting to the lower right) and Jupiter (the massive, radiant giant to the upper left).

They will hold court together in the twilight, putting on a breathtaking show before they finally set together around 11:30 PM EDT. It is an absolute gift for stargazers—but its astrological medicine is even deeper.

In astrology, Venus and Jupiter are known as the Benefics—with Jupiter operating as the Greater Benefic and Venus as the Lesser Benefic. Derived from the Latin root for "benefit," these two planetary bodies are archetypally in charge of the supportive, life-affirming, and beautiful dimensions of the human experience.

When these two powerhouses join forces, it marks one of the most auspicious alignments of the entire year. But the real magic lies in where this meeting is taking place.

Around June 16 and 17, a delicate, silver waxing crescent Moon will glide into the western sky right after sunset to join the planetary parade.

On the evening of June 16, the 4%-lit crescent Moon will hang just above Mercury. By the night of June 17, the Moon will skip upward to sit intimately close to Venus, right near the sparkling, buzzing stars of the Beehive Cluster (M44).
