Lunar Eclipse

Looking back to move forward

Eclipse season is when the rules bend. Fated events show up unannounced, timelines shift, and portals open—ready or not. This lunar eclipse in Pisces is no exception. And, like everything in astrology, there’s both good and bad.

Let’s start with the bad news: lunar eclipses always mark a culmination. Something ends, something’s revealed, and you don’t get to control the timing. But here’s the good news—it’s happening at the North Node, the point of future growth. So whatever’s dissolving now isn’t leaving you high and dry. It’s clearing space for what you’re meant to grow into.

And it’s all unfolding in Pisces, the last sign of the zodiac. Mutable water. The realm of dreams, intuition, and surrender. Pisces doesn’t force—it drifts and trusts. Opposite Virgo, who organizes and refines, this eclipse activates the tension between control and release. This isn’t the time to try and fix anything. Right now just feel it and float with it.

So- if this eclipse opens a portal—and it does—and it’s in Pisces, then where else would we look for it but in our dreams? The dreamworld is a direct line to the other-side so I’ve included a ritual to help you fall asleep in one life and wake up in another.

Pisces Lunar Eclipse

Believe it or not, eclipses aren’t rare. They happen like clockwork—twice every eclipse season, which comes around every six months. That means we get about four eclipses a year: one solar and one lunar per season.

Now- whether or not we can see an eclipse, and whether we see the total eclipse or only part of it, depends entirely on where we are on Earth.

🕰 Cosmic (Re)Calibration

In ancient times, eclipses were ominous events—lights flickering in heaven. Would they return? Were the gods angry? Over time, as patterns emerged and eclipses became predictable, they were used to calibrate calendars. If an eclipse arrived on schedule, the calendar was correct. If not, adjustments had to be made to get the calendar back on track.

Astrologically, the symbolism stuck. Eclipses still ask the same questions: Are you on track? Have you drifted off course? And if so—what needs to shift to bring you back into alignment?

🌑 Types of Eclipse

Here’s how I remember it:

- ☀️ Solar eclipse: the Sun is eclipsed

- 🌑 Lunar eclipse: the Moon is eclipsed

A solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes directly between us and the Sun, blocking its light—either partially or completely. From Earth’s perspective (which is always the lens astrology uses), the Moon and Sun align during a new moon, appearing in the same part of the sky. Because the Moon and Sun appear roughly the same size from Earth—a cosmic coincidence—the Moon can perfectly and completely obscure the Sun’s light.

Solar Eclipse

Astrologer Christopher Renstrom likens the solar eclipse to driving on the highway. You're facing forward and looking through the windshield at the road ahead with an overall sense of knowing where you're going (even if you're lost).

And he reminds us that a lunar eclipse (like the moon itself) is more reflective. Like looking through the rear view mirror at the road you've just travelled. It holds the same lunar sentiment that “in order to know where you’re going, you must understand where you’ve been”.

A lunar eclipse occurs during a full moon, when the Sun and Moon are on opposite sides of the sky. The Earth slips between them, casting its shadow across the Moon. The light we normally see reflected off the Moon isn’t emitted by the moon, it's sunlight. So when the Sun is blocked, the Moon dims, reddens, or fully disappears. The shadow we see moving across the face of the Moon is us.

Lunar Eclipse

If you’re still following, right about now you might be thinking to yourself:

“Wait, we have a new moon and full moon every month—so why don’t we get eclipses every month”

Valid question. The answer? The Moon’s orbit is tilted.

It’s angled about 5 degrees off from Earth’s orbit around the Sun. Most of the time, the Moon passes slightly above or below the Sun–Earth line, so no eclipse occurs. Eclipses only happen when the Moon is near one of the two points where its orbit crosses Earth’s orbit…

🌒 Enter the Lunar Nodes

The North Node and South Node are the two points where the Moon’s orbit intersects the Earth’s orbit (the ecliptic). These aren’t physical objects—they’re mathematical points, but they’re kind of a big deal. Eclipses only happen when a new or full moon occurs near one of these nodes. That’s why eclipses are seasonal: the Sun has to be close to a node, and the Moon has to line up just right.

- A solar eclipse happens near a node during a new moon

- A lunar eclipse happens near a node during a full moon

In astrology, the nodes carry massive symbolic and karmic weight.

- The North Node represents growth, destiny, and future direction

- The South Node speaks to release, karma, and the past

Since eclipses happen near these points, they’re not just your run-of-the-mill astrological event—they’re cosmic checkpoints. Something fated and life altering is being revealed, released, or rerouted.

The Boundless Waters of Pisces

This particular eclipse happens with the Moon in Pisces and the Sun in Virgo—opposite signs on the zodiac wheel. This axis is all about the dance between intuition and precision, surrender and structure.

Pisces brings themes of surrender, emotional release, and spiritual flow. Virgo, across the sky, offers discernment, boundaries, and practical care. This eclipse activates the tension between the mystical and the methodical—between what we can control and what we must let go.

This axis also speaks to the relationship between physical and spiritual health.

- Virgo rules the body, routines, and healing through precision (think: nutrition, boundaries, and daily care)

- Pisces governs emotional and energetic wellness (dreams, intuition, and the unseen realm that shape our inner world)

Eclipses here often spotlight where we’ve over-functioned or neglected ourselves, inviting a more holistic, compassionate approach to well-being.

So, Basically…..

At it’s core this is still a full Moon in Pisces (on steroids)—heightening emotion, intuition, and the urge to release what no longer fits.

Being a lunar eclipse marks this as a moment of emotional culmination when something ends, shifts, or is revealed. It’s a cosmic reset, often bringing clarity through closure.

It’s happening at the North Node so this eclipse isn’t just about endings—it’s about forward motion. Whatever falls away now is also the catapult to your destiny.

This lunar eclipse in Pisces is a strange kind of ending—one that points forward. Lunar eclipses always mark culminations, but because this one lands at the North Node, it’s not just about closure—it’s about momentum. In Pisces, the sign of dreams, spirituality, and illusion, the shift may feel subtle, symbolic, or surreal.

You might finally release a relationship that’s been lingering in limbo, not with drama but with quiet certainty.

You might wake up with a new creative vision that feels more like remembering than inventing.

Or you might find yourself questioning a belief system that once felt sacred, realizing it no longer fits the future you’re growing into.

Whatever form it takes- let what’s ending fall away—and pay attention to what’s quietly taking rise from beneath.

Unveiling Your Subconscious: Dreamwork for Releasing Limiting Beliefs

Pisces, ruled by Neptune, governs our dreams, intuition, and the vast ocean of the subconscious. During this eclipse, the veil between our conscious and unconscious minds thins, making it an ideal time to engage in intentional dreamwork to uncover what truly needs to be released. All you need for this is a journal or notebook and a pen to write in it with.

Understanding Your Limiting Beliefs: The First Step to Freedom

Before we explore dreamwork, let's talk about those sneaky saboteurs: limiting beliefs. These are deeply ingrained thoughts and assumptions we hold about ourselves, others, or the world, often formed in childhood or through past experiences. They act like invisible chains, keeping us from our full potential.

They often sound like:

  • "I'm not good enough."

  • "I'll never achieve that."

  • "It's too late for me."

  • "I don't deserve..."

How to Spot Your Own Limiting Beliefs:

  1. Listen to Your Inner Dialogue: Pay attention to phrases starting with "I can't," "I'm not," or "I'll never." These are often red flags.

  2. Examine Areas of Struggle: Where do you feel stuck in your life? Where do you procrastinate? The stories you tell yourself about "why" often hold a limiting belief.

  3. The "Because" Method: Finish the sentence: "I can't [insert a goal or desire] because..." The first thing that comes to mind is likely a core belief.

  4. Question Everything: Once you identify a belief, ask: Is this 100% true? Where did it come from? How is it serving me (or not serving me)? What would be possible if I released it?

This eclipse is a potent time to bring these hidden beliefs to the surface. And one of the most powerful tools for doing so is through your dreams.

Lunar Eclipse Dreamwork Practice: Diving into Pisces' Waters

This dreamwork practice is designed to help you intentionally connect with your subconscious during this potent eclipse energy, revealing what patterns or beliefs you're ready to release.

Part 1: Preparation (Bedtime)

  1. Cleanse Your Space: Create a calming environment. Light a candle, smudge with mugwort and lavendar, or diffuse relaxing essential oils.

  2. Clear your mind: Sit or lie comfortably. If you want to get real woo-woo you can hold an intuition-enhancing crystal like moonstone or labradorite. Take several deep breaths and visualize white light entering through the top of your head and filling your belly with each breath.

  3. Set Your Intention: In your dream journal, write down a clear intention for the night. Since this is about release, try something like:

    • "Tonight, I invite my subconscious to reveal, through my dreams, the emotional patterns or limiting beliefs I am ready to release for my highest good."

    • "May my dreams offer clear guidance on how to surrender what no longer serves me."

    • "Show me the path to my true intuitive self, free from past limitations."

  4. Be Ready: As soon as you wake up you want to record your dreams so be sure to leave your dream journal and a pen where you can reach it from bed. Alternatively, you can use a voice recorder on your phone and transcribe the recording into the dream journal later.

Part 2: The Dream Itself (During the Night)

  • As you drift to sleep, keep your intention in mind.

  • Allow yourself to be open to whatever comes. Pisces energy can lead to vivid, symbolic, or even surreal dreams. Don't try to control the dream; simply be a receptive observer.

Part 3: Dream Journaling & Reflection (Immediately Upon Waking)

This is the most important step!

  1. Don't Move! When you wake up try not to open your eyes or move from the position you were sleeping in. Try to remember as much of the dream as you can. Ask yourself: What was I just doing? Who was I with? Where was I? Even just the slightest thread of dream memory we can grab to unravel the rest of the dream.

  2. Write Everything Down: Record every detail you can remember:

    • The overall feeling/mood of the dream.

    • Characters, people, or animals.

    • Symbols, objects, or significant places.

    • Colors, sounds, or sensations.

    • Even if it feels nonsensical, write it down without judgment or editing.

    • Consider drawing a quick sketch if a visual stands out.

  3. Reflect and Connect: Once you've captured as much as you can, read through your entry. Now, ask yourself:

    • What emotions from the dream resonate with emotions I feel in my waking life?

    • What might the main symbols, characters, or actions represent to me? (For example, a feeling of being trapped could link to a limiting belief of not being able to escape a situation).

    • Does this dream illuminate a limiting belief or pattern I've been holding onto, perhaps one I identified earlier?

    • What message is my subconscious trying to convey about what I need to release?

After the Eclipse: Integration and Action

The insights gained during dreamwork are never just for contemplation; they're for action. Once you've identified a limiting belief or an emotional pattern through your dreamwork, consciously choose to begin releasing it.

  • Affirmations: Replace old beliefs with empowering new ones. "I am not good enough" becomes "I am worthy and capable of achieving my desires."

  • Small Steps: Take one small action that contradicts your old belief.

  • Compassion: Be kind to yourself. Releasing old patterns takes time and patience.

This Lunar Eclipse in Pisces is an opportunity to clear out the old, making space for deeper intuition, compassion, and authentic manifestation. Trust the wisdom of your inner world.

Reflection Questions:

  • What emotional patterns or limiting beliefs are you ready to release that no longer serve your highest good? 💔

  • Where in your life are you feeling emotionally drained, and what boundaries do you need to establish to protect your energy?

  • How can you differentiate between your authentic intuition and emotional escapism, and what new spiritual practices can you adopt to anchor yourself?
