Deepfake Dilemma

Okay, so there is something we seriously need to talk about.

Pluto just made its move into Aquarius, and the timing could not be more unsettlingly relevant as we stare down the barrel of an AI-driven reality. This planetary shift is already digging into the shadow of the future, exposing the biggest vulnerability in our collective quest for "the truth."

Astro-Essentials: Depth Meets The Digital Age

To understand the stakes, we need a quick look at the cosmic players:

  • Pluto: The Underworld Digger

Pluto is the planet of depth, riches, power, and the uncompromising truth. It demands an unquenchable, obsessive desire to dig into the muck and the darkness looking for the facts. The motivation? The sheer, unadulterated power that accompanies the truth.

  • Aquarius: The Future Weirdo

Aquarius is all about the future, progressive ideals, technology, and alternatives. They are ruled by Uranus, the eccentric who never follows the crowd. They stand up for the underdog, they switch things up, and frankly, they are fucking weirdos (in the best possible way). They don't believe something just because everyone else does.

Put them together, and you get an obsession with technology, particularly AI. This tech is a double-edged sword: a tool for good, or a tool for profound deception.

We have always known about the crazy, big-picture sci-fi dangers AI could present (Exhibit A: Will Smith's I, Robot; Exhibit B: The goddamn Disney Channel Original Movie, Smart House). But those were always the final-outcome, apocalyptic threats years down the line. What we are finding out really fast, as we just dip our toes in now, are the simple side-effect dangers—the ones that are already fucking things up at an alarming speed. This transition's intention depends entirely on the person wielding the tech and their commitment to truth.

And let’s be real, people… how many people do you know who you would completely trust with that kind of a commitment to truth?!

The Necessary Check vs. The Dangerous Shadow

The impulse of Aquarius is essential: to question the system, fight for freedom of thought, and champion the unorthodox. The world needs the Aquarian drive to challenge the status quo and push technology toward humanitarian ends.

However, the most relevant—and most unsettling—expression of this transit is in the Aquarian shadow.

These are the people whose entire identity is wrapped up in not being a "dumb sheep." They are so fucking terrified of being brainwashed by the mainstream that they become laser-focused on one idea: The majority is wrong.

This protective impulse, while valuable, is quickly becoming a fatal vulnerability in the age of AI deception.

And here lies the paradox:

  • The Obsession: They become obsessively drawn to conspiracy theories and the most contrarian, alternative viewpoints available.

  • The Pattern: You can literally predict their opinion on any given topic. What’s the simple, obvious, majority answer? They will argue the exact opposite. (This isn't about reasoned debate; it's a defensive posture born from the fear of conformity.)

  • The Motivation: Their goal is to support the alternative viewpoints- the “others”, simply because they are not the mainstream—a mainstream they have already universally labeled as corrupt, closed minded, and stupid.

I need to reiterate the importance of the Aquarian mindset. I repeat: We absolutely need these people to keep us on our toes. They keep the conversation cycling, ensuring we don't lose sight of the long shot. But this obsessive need to be "different" is creating a colossal fucking problem when the "long shot" can now be, and is absolutely being, designed by malicious deepfake creators.

The Hypocrisy of Research

The most Aquarian of the Aquarii (no, it probably is not a real word… but hear me out anyway) individuals spend all their time railing against the "stupid sheep" who "just believe what they are told." These people proudly proclaim: “Do your own research. Don’t just accept what is being fed to you. Find out the facts and the numbers and the truth!”

If I am being honest, this stance is the ultimate hypocrisy. While they demand everyone else open their minds, they are completely closed to any perspective that originates from a source they have already designated as the enemy.

How It Should Work vs. How It Does

  • Ideal Method: Facts ➡️ Research ➡️ Argument ➡️ Belief/Decision.

  • Shadow Method: Edgy, Controversial Belief ➡️ Backtrack ➡️ Search for "Supporting Evidence."

Anything that doesn't support their argument or maybe flat out makes their entire belief system crumble? There’s an easy way for them to dismiss that shit: source check first, content check never.

Here is the problem: They will come up with a belief or statement that is edgy, alternative, and usually controversial. From there, they then back track and find supporting "evidence."

What’s the source? American media? Well, they are all owned by corporations who want to push a narrative. Therefore, anything they say is unequivocally bullshit. Doesn’t matter if it's the simple date of an event—they are lying to you.

You know what… I can’t even argue with that anymore. The media is often run in a way that has become untrustworthy and narrative-pushing. But the hypocrisy isn't the distrust; it's the close-mindedness. They refuse to even read or consider a legitimate fact based solely on the source’s label. They are blowing off empirical evidence and data because someone else told them that the source is corrupt.

The Unwinnable Source Game

In this crowd, finding a credible source is getting really tricky. Try to present evidence, and you run into the ultimate Aquarian wall of distrust:

Source Category

The Dismissal

Mainstream Media

Bullshit. Owned by corporations pushing a narrative.

Empirical/Scientific

Subjective. Cannot be trusted; lacks "backing."

Fact Checkers/Apps

Forget it. Who owns the app? They’re running a narrative.

You can't fucking win. If they can't trust any official, peer-reviewed, or establishment source, where, on the other hand, do they find their "legit" news?

Fucking YouTube and TikTok.

That’s right, people. Apparently uncredited bullshit from nobodies on social media is the most real and credible news source out there.

This is the most hypocritical thing I have ever seen and quite honestly, I find it terrifying.

Who exactly are the sheep? Exactly who is gullible? And exactly who is being deceived?

The Current Mess: Deepfakes Aren't a Future Threat, They're a Now Problem

This isn't some dystopian sci-fi scenario anymore. We are standing at the precipice of it, and the consequences range from financial fraud to political chaos.

Let's look at the numbers and the irony:

  • The "FBI Director" Deepfake: A video featuring a deepfake of a high-level official discussing a supposed case racked up 140,000 views from people primed to distrust official sources but instantly trust a slickly produced, anti-establishment video on an alternative platform. The irony is terminal: They rejected the New York Times for being corporate shills, but embraced a completely fabricated video created with corporate-level tech.

  • The Pentagon Scam: A sophisticated AI-generated image of an explosion at the Pentagon was enough to temporarily send the stock market into a spin. It was instantly believed, retweeted by verified accounts, and caused tangible, real-world financial damage.

  • The Political Surrender: Early in the war in Ukraine, a deepfake video circulated showing President Zelenskyy ordering his troops to lay down their arms and surrender. The intent was clear: sow confusion and chaos among the defenders.

The technology is already too good. It exploits the cognitive bias of the Aquarian shadow crowd: they are so determined to find the secret truth that they'll fall for the most obvious, high-production-value lie, provided it originates outside the "mainstream" they loathe.

I can’t roll my eyes hard enough.

Deepfakes, Wild West, and the Game Plan

We're in big trouble, people. We are at the dawn of an age where we will be absolutely unable to identify truth from lies. Fact from fiction. The lines are blurring, and they're blurring fast.

Like the Wild West—or for my Millennials, the Oregon Trail—there are a lot of stupid ways to die, and the information landscape is riddled with dysentery (And typhoid. And cholera and rattlesnake bites. Oh My!).

More urgently, we need a game plan. How do we know what to trust and what to dismiss when even an "app for that" would be met with immediate distrust by this key group? Should there be a penalty for knowingly creating and distributing false, dangerous news? Where do we draw the line on First Amendment rights when the population is proving unable to tell the difference and, worse, acting on the nonsense?

Final Thoughts: Finding the Light in the Shadow

This is not intended as Aquarian-bashing. It is a necessary dialogue about the shadow expression of a vital energy. We need the true Aquarian spirit—the one committed to humanitarian progress and factual authenticity—to help us navigate the Wild West of deepfakes.

I'm open to ideas. This conversation is not only fascinating from an astrological and psychological perspective, but also absolutely necessary right now.

All suggestions are welcome. We need all the help we can get.
